Bounceability can help you deal with worrying
Do you wish you didn’t worry so much? Do you want to be able to make a presentation to your class? Would you like to not be upset with friends? Or nor worry about tests and exams? And do you know why it’s ok to be sad, or angry, as well as happy?
Then try Bounceability! It doesn’t take bad stuff away (sorry, those exams will still be there…) but it will give you lots of ideas for tackling worries, scary times and challenges.
Bounceability can help you deal with worrying in all sorts of situations. Like…do you wish you didn’t worry so much? Would you like some ideas about handling frenemies? Do you want to be less anxious about tests and exams? Or be more confident? Then try Bounceability! It doesn’t take bad stuff away (sorry, those exams will still be there…) but it will give you lots of tools and ideas for tackling worries, scary times and challenges.
In this first session we’re going to look at understanding our emotions and learn why its ok to be sad. We’ll watch a video from that lovely film Inside Out, where Sadness helps Bing Bong feel better, and see how she does it. We will talk about the worries you have and how you can build something called resilience that will help you tackle them and the challenges you will face as you go through school.
Can you believe that if you do something scary or difficult you are helping your brain to develop? Just like our muscles develop with sport and our bodies grow with good food. We’ll watch a video that explains it. We are also thinking about pesky thoughts! These are thoughts we have that tell us we can’t do something or that something bad will happen. You can learn to think a more positive thought and worry less.
Give me a high five! You are going to be so confident after this session! Confidence helps us to deal with upsets between friends and do better in exams and performances. How often do you praise your friends or get a compliment from them? Not as often as we get mean comments from others. We will practice giving and receiving compliments, saying what we do well and find out what Power Poses are!
Take cover for this session, we’re going to get scary! Lots of things seem frightening to us but we can achieve a lot if we face our fears. Think about how you feel when you got the courage to go on that scary ride. Do you know how you can flip from fear to excitement in a second? We will also talk about friendships; why they are important and what we can do when friends are mean to us.
This is our last session. We’ll talk about the worries we sometimes have about the future and what helps us feel better. Then you will be creating your Bounceability Toolkit, filling clouds with positive thoughts and things you can do to stop worrying. And lastly we’ll have a fun quiz to help you remember some of the things you have learnt.
